The Wells was created by Francesca Filpi in 2002 to give aspiring ballet students the chance to meet and work with professionals in an informal environment. Though the courses are very different now from those early days, the ethos is still the same - to inspire students, re-ignite their joy of dance, and give them a sense of direction in what can be a bewildering time in their training.

Prestigious Masterclasses are held at the Royal Opera House, taught by current and former dancers of The Royal Ballet, where students have the chance to experience company style classes in the Royal Ballet´s own studios, work on audition and performance technique, and learn excerpts of repertoire and solos from the world-renowned dancers who perform them downstairs on the main stage.

Exclusive summer retreats are an exciting part of the Wells calendar, held at the ´Ballet Bubble on the Beach´, Dar Danse, on the Atlantic coast of Morocco - a very inspiring and nurturing environment. Small class sizes allow for very personal tuition, and students will have the opportunity to build confidence, rediscover their joy of dance, and cast off any inhibitions and mental blocks, in an inspiring open air studio overlooking the ocean, under the encouraging eye of Francesca and her colleagues from The Royal Ballet. Families are welcome to come along too, to enjoy a holiday in the sunshine, and watch the classes, glass of mint tea ( or wine!) in hand!

Coaching retreats held at the Filpi family finca near Cadiz, in southwestern Spain are planned from 2020.

Coaching sessions with Francesca, in her private studio are available at certain times, along with one-to-one tuition.
